Welcome!

So in an effort for BCSC to go paperless and teachers are creating their own sites, I think this may be the best way for me to share social skills lessons that I have been recording of Maria's Remediation Time. The one problem is the 3 lessons I did before break, I CANNOT find on my computer anywhere. I am so bummed, so we'll start the first lesson with the second semester.
Maria has been teaching Winning and Losing. Timmy Terrific has great game playing skills...he takes turns, he waits patiently, he is happy when he wins and happy when he loses, etc. Tory Terrible is his twin brother who has AWFUL game playing skills. He is impatient, always wants it to be his turn, interrupts, and is gloating happy when he wins and a very SORE loser. (Maria made this story up...it is not a published book, so be creative!)

Maria starts each lesson with her welcome song. I had it recorded for you, but it was lost...I'll get it posted soon! Then she will have the kids work on "feeling/emotion" identification (called "How are You Feeling?" from a published book. You can use any emotion cards, images from the net, or published materials...it does NOT have to be Maria's book.

Maria then reads/introduces a story (i.e., Timmy Terrific/Tory Terrible) that goes along with the skills she is teaching for the week.

After the story, she introduces the visuals (I believe she has been sending these to you as she creates them, so I will not post them here) and the skill.

Finally, there is some kind of role-play or practice of the skill. In today's lesson, the kids break into small groups and play cards games practicing the skills. At the end of the session everyone returns to the group. The kids then were reinforced for good practice of the skills. For this week's lessons the kids each got a star sticker for their 3 skills they practiced. When the entire group earned 100 stickers, they got to view HORTON HEARS A WHO.
